Since the reveal of Windows 11, Microsoft has been pushing a new set of requirements for the upcoming operating system. Despite these requirements, many were able to install Windows 11 via the Windows Insider program without meeting them. However, Neowin now reports that Microsoft has begun kicking users who do not meet those requirements out of the program. Users with non-compliant machines reportedly are receiving the following message when attempting to update Windows 11 via the program: “Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. Your device is not eligible to join the Windows Insider Program on Windows 11. Please Install Windows 10 to participate in the Windows Insider Program in the Release Preview Channel.” With Windows 11 set to release on October 5, users who want to install it will need to meet all the requirements Microsoft has established in order to download and install the operating system. It’s unclear if the removal of PCs from the Insider program will continue or if this was just a glitch in the system. While Microsoft appears to be removing users who don’t meet those requirements, it is worth noting that the company has made a way for people who don’t reach those minimum hardware specs to upgrade to Windows 11, however it requires users to install the OS via an system image file (ISO).
